Rani to play a prostitute in 'Laaga Chunari Mein Daag'

After playing couple of light roles like in 'Ta Ra Rum Pum', Rani Mukherjee is all geared up to play more challenging roles in future.

Besides playing a prostitute in Sanjay Leela Bhansli's 'Saawariya', she will also be seen playing a middle class girl who takes on to prostitution due to her circumstances in prestigious Yashraj Films 'Laaga Chunari Mein Daag'

The film will release on 12 October 2007 and is directed by Pradeep Sarkar, who directed the critically acclaimed 'Parineeta'. The film also stars Abhishek Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Konkona Sen, Kunal Kapoor, Anupam Kher, Kirron Kher and Farida Jalal.

Rani portrayed many challenging roles in her career like the ones in Black, Yuva, Paheli, Veer-Zaara, and Saathiya. While other actresses tend to be stereotyped, she is one actress who has proved that she can play all kinds of roles with ease.
